Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Born in Mar del Plata, Argentina. With a degree in graphic design and illustration. In 2000, she settled on the bright island of Mallorca.
During her career as a designer, she spent part of her time researching and learning traditional embroidery and loom weaving techniques. She then found the opportunity to adapt these techniques to her creative needs.
This way, simply, with abstraction as an aesthetic goal and using very old techniques that involve precision and time, she lets her intuition flow, avoiding any formal limitations. She tries to evoke impressions such as sensuality, austerity, silence, minimalism, joy, loneliness, freedom…

THE BEAUTY OF SIMPLICITY
In her creations, Mariana seeks to capture the beautiful and mesmerising simplicity of the universal and age-old technique of loom weaving. She uses different sort of looms such us a table loom for the small pieces and a Saori floor loom for larger ones.
Mariana basically weaves with 100% cotton and ecologic hemp and a wide range of colourful and metallic threads, which are sometimes difficult to find but due to this fact, she's always aware of finding hidden treasures either in a flea market or an old haberdashery.
Mariana's pieces reflect her the idea that there is a special beauty in handcrafted objects, that is both universal and timeless. Furthermore, this particular notion takes her away from the rush of daily life while she mindfully work at the loom.
